Our team is looking for a creative, results-oriented, and passionate Software Development Engineer to help develop top-notch software that will help Amazon's Legal team support Amazon's businesses worldwide.
We are looking for an engineer who can help us create tools and technologies that will integrate, automate and report complex data from a variety of sources. This position will be working with a mix of systems and technologies with an emphasis on new-build development. This position is focused on web services (C#/Java) and website development (HTML5, JavaScript, CSS, Ruby on Rails, JSP, etc.) As a key member of our team, you will get the opportunity to own major deliverables of this project and in all aspects of the development cycle: scoping, design, implementation, testing. Successful candidates can multi-task, quickly adapt to new development environments, learn new systems, create reliable/maintainable code, and find creative and scalable solutions to difficult problems. The ability to communicate clearly and concisely (both written and orally) is a key competency as is being a self-starter.
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or 2+ years relevant work experience
* Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design
* Computer Science fundamentals in data structures
* Computer Science fundamentals in algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
* Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as C, C++, C#, Java, or Perl
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience developing web portals, particularly with MVC architecture/design such as JSP, Ruby on Rails (RoR), etc.
* Ability to recognize and adopt best practices in software engineering: design, testing, version control, documentation, build, deployment, and operations
* Clear, professional communication skills to contribute to team discussions, knowing when to contribute, when to listen, and when to ask questions
* Knowledge of Linux, Apache, J2EE, Ruby, XML, web services, and distributed systems
* Ability to proactively and continually improve level of knowledge about Amazon's business and relevant technologies, and use this knowledge to deliver high quality, accurate software deliverables
* A passion for UI development for advanced and novice web surfer
